Work safely at heights (1 Day)

(Partnered with RTO 91141)

This is the course everyone needs to have when they are considered to be working at height. Working at heights simply means when a worker can fall from one level to another and sustain an injury as defined in the WHS Act. This course is also the prerequisite for many higher levels of heights training.

Persons who complete working at heights training should complete refresher training at intervals no greater than 12 months to maintain industry competency levels.

  3. Australian Standards references
  4. Height safety hazard identification, risk assessment and risk control
  5. Fall safety
  6. Types of height work (slopes, pitched roofs, brittle/fragile roofs, ladders, EWP, etc.)
  7. Forces & fall categories
  8. Fall restraint & fall arrest
  9. Emergency plan & rescue systems (includes practical simulated rescue of a suspended person)
  10. Fall protection equipment

Course Pre-requisites


Pre Entry Requirements

  1. Participants require sufficient literacy and numeracy levels to read and interpret policies and procedures, safety data sheets and sample permits.
  2. Participants will need the physical ability to perform some strenuous activities in the practical exercises.

Assessment includes written questionnaires, practical demonstrations, oral questioning and participation in group activities or teamwork.

Vocational Outcome
