Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) and Spill Kit Courses 

Hazardous Material Training is designed for anyone who supervises, uses, stores and or handles Hazardous Materials (also known as Hazardous Chemicals and Dangerous Goods) in the workplace.

Participants will learn how to identify Hazardous Chemicals, the hazardous associated with them and possible controls. Via a series of short, hands on exercises and quick decision exercises, participants will learn how to read labels and Safety Data sheets so they know how to safely handle and store chemicals, as well as identify how to deal with typical chemical incidents.

"This course also gives the paricipants skills to understand the National Workplace Exposure Standards and help them gain skills to minimise their exposure to hazardouse substances at home and in the workplace."

  • Hazardous Substance Awareness (2 hrs)

  • Handle Dangerous Goods & Hazardouse Substances for Manufacture, Transport and Logistics (1Day)
  • Fire Extinguisher & Spill Response / Spill Kit (4 Hours)

 

Hazardous Substance Awareness (2 hrs)

This course is aimed at personnel who may be exposed to hazardous substances at the workplace and/or are involved in developing and implementing strategies to control risks associated with exposure to hazardous substances.

  • CTC001 - Hazardouse Substance Awareness

 

Handle Dangerous Goods & Hazardouse Substances for Manufacture, Transport and Logistics (1 Day)

This course provides participants with the skills and knowledge required to handle dangerous goods and hazardous substances, including identifying requirements for working with dangerous goods and/or hazardous substances, confirming site incident procedures, selecting handling techniques, and handling and storing dangerous goods and hazardous substances.

 

Unit of education and training offered in this Hazardouse Substance Awareness course is:

  • TLID2003 - Handle dangerous goods/hazardous substances

 

Fire Extinguisher & Spill Response / Spill Kit (4 Hours)

This course is to respond to small emergencies in a facility include incidents such as small fires that can be controlled using a fire extinguisher; chemical spills that can be controlled using facility personal protective clothing and equipment and a spill kit; or a vehicle accident where there is no significant injury or damage.

 

National units of competency offered in this fire warden course are:

  • CPPFES2005A - Demonstrate first attack firefighting equipment
  • PUAWER008B - Confine small workplace emergencies
