This course is for personnel who are required to supervise the removal process for friable and non-friable asbestos containing material (ACM). The training also teaches the learners how to plan for and supervise the asbestos removal process, including preparing the work area and the work site, using safe and compliant removal practices, maintaining safety procedures, and supervising the decontamination and removal processes.
Ensuring compliance with the asbestos removal control plan (ARCP) is central to the effective performance of the training. This includes ensuring and documenting that required air monitoring and other testing and certification processes are conducted by licensed asbestos assessors according to legislation.
Learners should have previously undertaken either Class A or Class B asbestos removal training before they attempt this training course and on successful completion of the course intend to supervise asbestos removal for a licensed asbestos removalist.
"This unit of competency is recognised by Safe Work NSW for licencing purposes. Workers (including the asbestos removal supervisors) who are carrying out licensed asbestos removal work are required to acquire this certification to show they have the relevant training to be able to supervise the removal of asbestos."
This course is aimed at personnel who have not undertaken any asbestos removal training previously, intend to remove any amount of non friable asbestos and / or are required to undertake work for a licenced asbestos removalist.
Workers (including the asbestos removal supervisors) who are carrying out licensed non friable asbestos removal work are required to acquire a certification by completing this unit of competency to show they have the relevant training to be able to remove non friable asbestos.
"This course is for personnel who are required to remove under 10m² of non friable asbestos or over 10m² of non friable asbestos for a licened asbestos removalist. If you are applying for a licence or you are being listed as a supervisor on a licence you will also need to complete the Asbestos Supervisor Course".
This asbestos awareness course is aimed at management and supervisory personnel who are responsible for organising and managing asbestos related risks in the workplace or personnel who may be required to remove small amounts of asbestos (under 10m2) as part of their job role.
The course is an overview of the mandatory requirements as set out in the WHS Regulations anad the Model Code of Practice: How to manage and control asbestos in the workplace, providing attendees with sufficient information to be able to understand these requirements when working around, resourcing and removing asbestos containing materials (ACM).
"For workers in the Australian Capital Territory, WorkSafe ACT mandates that you must complete a specific awareness course called “10675NAT Course in Asbestos Awareness”. This is not that course".
Attendees are required to wear suitable / high visability work clothes, hard hat, gloves, safety glasses and steel capped boots. If you can not bring your own PPE you may be able borrow some from CTC Safety.
