CTC Safety is an Ausgrid Third Party Registered Training Organisation (RTO) approved to deliver Ausgrid aligned mandatory training and Electrical Safety Rules (ESR) refresher training to ASP2's and contractors.

Ausgrid Electrical Safety Rules ASP2 and Contractor Authorisation Training 

Minimum initial / refresher requirements for all individuals who are required to work on, or near, Ausgrid’s network.

  • HLTAID001– Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation
  • UETTDRRF06 - Perform rescue from a live LV panel
  • UETTDRRF10 - Provide first aid in an ESI environment 
  • Ausgrid Safety Rules ASP2 (Refresher) Training including: 
    • UETTDRRF01 - Apply ESI safety rules, codes of practice and procedures for work on or near electrical apparatus (Ausgrid Electrical Safety Rules Aligned)
    • UETTDRRF09 - Apply access procedures to work on or near electrical network infrastructure (Ausgrid Electrical Safety Rules Aligned)

Optional initial / refresher requirements for all individuals who are required to work in the vicinity of overhead mains.

  • UETTDRRF02 - Provide pole top rescue (Mandatory if an individual is required to conduct or observe work in the vicinity of overhead mains from a ladder or pole)
  • UETTDRRF03 - Perform EWP rescue (Mandatory if an individual is required to conduct or observe work in the vicinity of overhead mains utilising an EWP)
  • UETTDRRF08 - Perform EWP controlled decent escape (CDD) (Mandatory if an individual is required to conduct work in the vicinity of overhead mains utilising an EWP)
  • UETTDREL14 - Working safely near live electrical apparatus as a non electrical worker (Mandatory if an individual is required to operate or observe crane and plant (Including an EWP) operating in the vicinity of overhead mains)
  • UETTDRRF11 - Testing of connections to low voltage electricity networks

Ausgrid Electrical Prerequisite Training 

CTC Safety offer nationally accredited training courses that are required as prerequisite training for Ausgrid authorisation. Ausgrid does not provide this training. 

  • UETTDRRF10 - Provide first aid in an ESI environment 
  • HLTAID001 - Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
  • UETTDRRF06 - Perform rescue from a live LV panel
  • UETTDRRF02 - Provide Pole Top Rescue
  • UETTDRRF08 - Perform EWP controlled descent escape

Ausgrid Confined Space Training

Minimum initial / refresher requirements for all individuals who are required to work in confined spaces on, or near, Ausgrid’s network.

  • MSMPER205 - Enter confined space
  • MSMWHS217 - Gas test atmospheres
  • MSMPER200 - Work in accordance with an issued permit
  • MSMWHS216 - Operate breathing apparatus

General Notes

  1. Initial Ausgrid Safety Rules training and Environmental Procedures must be undertaken with Ausgrid's internal training division
  2. CTC Safety can only deliver Ausgrid Safety Rules Refreshed ASP2's. ASP1's and ASP1 contractors must refresh their Safety Rules training with Ausgrid.
  3. Ausgrid advise that external partners should refer to the training requirements detailed in their respective authorisation contract
  4. For ASP/1s refer to Annexure B - ASP1 Individual Competency Requirements
  5. For ASP/2s and contractors refer to Annexure H - ASP2 Individual Competency Requirements
  6. Refresher training is required within 12 months of the training expiry date (i.e. within 24 months since your last training date)
  7. An individual must re-do the initial safety rules training with Ausgrid if their last training is more than 24 months old
  8. CPCCWHS1001 and a SafeWork NSW General Construction Induction (White Card) is a minimum training requirement prerequisite

Important Notes

  1. Only an electrically qualified person is eligible to complete “UETTDREL16 Working safely near live electrical apparatus”
  2. A non-electrically qualified person can complete “UETTDREL14 Working safely near live electrical apparatus” as a non-electrical worker
  3. Individuals deemed to be electrically qualified i.e. electricians, cable jointers and line workers, only need to complete the appropriate training once
  4. For individuals deemed non-electrically qualified i.e. apprentices, contestable works assistants and NBN workers, the appropriate training needs to be refreshed annually
  5. Individuals that have previously completed training in 5099, ISSC26 or NS209 will be grandfathered. Where required, all refresher training must be in accordance with the associated relevant national units of competency listed

Ausgrid / CTC Safety aligned training

  1. Ausgrid aligned training delivered by Ausgrid accredited Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) will be accepted by Ausgrid for authorisation purposes
  2. Ausgrid will not recognise Ausgrid aligned training provided by any company who is not accredited by Ausgrid at the time of training delivery
  3. Please note: CTC Safety is a Ausgrid accredited training company

Ausgrid Electrical Safety Rules

  1. Please note that all initial ESR training must be delivered by Ausgrid  
  2. ASP/1s must undertake annual ESR refresher training only through Ausgrid
  3. ASP/2s may choose either Ausgrid or one of the indicated accredited 3rd party RTOs as listed below to complete the annual ESR refresher
