CTC Workplace Training delivers onsite earthmoving plant training across NSW for civil contractors, councils, infrastructure businesses, earthworks operators, quarry teams and employers who need practical, site-ready outcomes.
This is more than just a plant course. It is a National Unit + Free 2-Year VOC package built for industry. Some sites want a nationally recognised unit. Some sites want a VOC measured against the national unit. That is why CTC packages both together.
| Feature | What it means for your business |
|---|---|
| National Unit + Free 2-Year VOC | A stronger package for businesses that want both nationally recognised training and a formal VOC outcome. |
| Onsite theory and assessment | Theory presentation and practical assessment can be completed at the customer’s site using the customer’s earthmoving plant. |
| Pre-learning option | For experienced operators, pre-learning can be sent before the booking to reduce onsite course time. |
| New Operator Program | For inexperienced learners, CTC can issue pre-learning, a log book, L plates and a learning pathway guide to build supervised machine hours before final assessment. |
| Lower cost pathway for new operators | Supervised operating hours can be signed off by employed Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), reducing the time a CTC trainer/assessor needs to be onsite. |
| VOC-only option | Operators who already hold the national unit can book a VOC when an assessor is in their region. |
For experienced operators, CTC can either deliver the theory presentation onsite before the practical assessment, or send pre-learning before the booking to reduce onsite course time.
For less experienced or inexperienced operators, CTC can send pre-learning, a log book, L plates and a learning pathway guide.
The learner then completes supervised operating hours onsite under one of the customer’s existing employees who can already operate the machine proficiently. CTC identifies these workers as employed Subject Matter Experts (SMEs).
Log book operating hours must be signed off by an employed SME who holds a current national unit and an in-date VOC issued by CTC Workplace Training.
This lowers the cost to the customer by limiting the amount of time a CTC trainer/assessor needs to be onsite.
The New Operator Program is for learners who are not yet ready for final practical assessment.
This pathway can be used in two situations:
Under this program, the learner may be issued:
The practical experience plan sets out the machine hours the learner should complete before attempting the practical assessment again.
The learner then builds supervised operating hours onsite under one of the customer’s existing employed Subject Matter Experts (SMEs).
A return to site by the assessor for a further practical assessment may be subject to an additional charge.
A VOC can also be booked on its own if the learner already holds the national unit.
When an assessor is in your region, they can come to site and re-assess the operator against the national unit of competency.
It is both. CTC sells this as a National Unit + Free 2-Year VOC package.
Because some sites want nationally recognised training, and some want a VOC measured against the national unit. This package is designed to help meet the most common site requirements across Australia.
Yes. When an assessor is in your region, they can come to site and re-assess the operator against the national unit of competency.
They may enter the New Operator Program, where they are given a log book, practical experience plan, L plates and a learning pathway guide so they can build supervised machine hours before further assessment.
Practical assessment is completed using the customer’s earthmoving plant on the customer’s site.
Individuals can be assessed using this method, however a minimum course fee, travel and accommodation may apply.
Generally a minimum of 4 participants and a maximum of 10 participants per piece of plant per day. Less than 4 participants can be booked, however minimum fees and travel and accommodation may apply.
