FAQs

What is Metallic Pipes training?

Metallic Pipes training is designed for workers who need to identify and control electrical risks when working on metallic water or wastewater network pipework. Training includes hazard identification, electrical bonding principles, isolation procedures, safe work methods, and practical activities using 1000V insulating gloves, pipe bridging kits, bonding straps and voltmeters, aligned to relevant asset owner and water authority procedures.

What is the difference between Metallic Pipes training and Plumbguard training?

The training structure and electrical risk control principles are very similar. Both training options include practical use of metallic pipe bonding straps, Plumbguard systems, 1000V insulating gloves, pipe bridging kits and voltmeters. The difference is alignment to your project specification: Metallic Pipes focuses on electrical risk control for metallic pipework generally, while Plumbguard training aligns the practical component to the Plumbguard model approved by the water authority in your state.

Do you supply the equipment for training?

Yes. CTC Workplace Training supplies all equipment required for practical activities, including Plumbguard systems (state-aligned models), bonding straps, pipe bridging kits, 1000V insulating gloves, voltmeters, and a simulated water meter / water main setup for realistic practical training. Participants are not required to bring their own electrical control equipment.

Do you deliver Sydney Water HSP0077 training?

Yes. We provide a Sydney Water HSP0077-labelled option for projects that reference HSP0077 electrical safety requirements for metallic water pipework. Public HSP0077 training is delivered at our Emu Plains training centre only. Training includes practical activities aligned to HSP0077 controls and is delivered using the same electrical risk control framework as the metallic pipes pathway.

How much does Metallic Pipes or Plumbguard training cost?

Public pricing is $275 per person for Initial and $195 per person for Refresher (as configured in the booking system). For onsite group bookings (minimum 10 participants), the training component is discounted by 20%: $220 per person (Initial) or $156 per person (Refresher), plus travel and accommodation quoted separately.

What is the difference between Initial and Refresher training?

Initial training is for first-time completion. Refresher training is delivered as reassessment and is suitable for returning workers who have previously completed the unit. Evidence of prior completion (Statement of Attainment, transcript, or card) is required.

Do you travel interstate for group bookings?

Yes. We deliver onsite Metallic Pipes and Plumbguard training across Australia for confirmed group bookings of 10 or more participants. Training is aligned to the relevant state or asset owner specification, including the approved Plumbguard model where required. Travel and accommodation are quoted separately.

Who needs Metallic Pipes or Plumbguard training?

This training is typically required for water and sewer maintenance crews, civil contractors working on metallic mains, meter installers and service technicians, asset maintenance teams, and contractor teams working under water authority specifications. If your scope involves cutting, clamping, tapping, isolating or repairing metallic pipework, this training is generally required to manage electrical risk and comply with authority procedures.
