Asbestos, Silica & Hazardous Substances Training in NSW

CTC Safety delivers licensed and awareness-level training for asbestos removal, silica dust control, and safe handling of hazardous substances, compliant with SafeWork NSW regulations and Codes of Practice for Asbestos and Silica. Courses provide hands-on decontamination and PPE practicals.

Courses suit construction, demolition, renovation, maintenance, and general industry workers requiring identification, risk management, or licensed removal competency.

Training includes practical decontamination, PPE use, and safe handling by qualified trainers.

Public and group bookings are available at our training centres Sydney @ Emu Plains, Central Coast @ Tuggerah or Newcastle @ Beresfield. Onsite group bookings are also available for most of these courses NSW wide. (Discounts apply for group bookings).

Available Courses

Asbestos Awareness Training
Awareness-level course on identifying asbestos-containing materials, health risks, and safe work practices around asbestos – suitable for workers likely to disturb ACM during maintenance or renovation.

Silica Dust Awareness Training
Awareness-level training on crystalline silica hazards, exposure risks in construction/demolition, and dust control measures – essential for SafeWork NSW compliance.

Hazardous Substances / Dangerous Goods Awareness Training
Awareness-level course on identifying, storing, and handling hazardous substances and dangerous goods safely in workplaces.

Remove Non-Friable Asbestos (Class B Licence)
Licensed Class B training for safe removal of non-friable (bonded) asbestos-containing materials, including practicals in preparation, decontamination, and disposal.

Supervise Asbestos Removal
For supervisors overseeing friable and non-friable asbestos removal projects, covering planning, monitoring, and compliance.

Units of Competency Available

The following nationally recognised units and awareness-level training are delivered across our asbestos, silica, and hazardous substances courses:

• CPCCDE3014 – Remove non-friable asbestos: Licensed unit for preparing sites, safely removing bonded (non-friable) asbestos-containing materials, decontamination, and waste disposal – required for Class B asbestos removal licence in NSW construction and demolition, available in Newcastle @ Beresfield.

• CPCCDE4008 – Supervise asbestos removal: Supervisory unit for planning, monitoring, and overseeing friable/non-friable asbestos removal projects, ensuring regulatory compliance – essential for licensed supervisors in NSW renovation and maintenance work.

All accredited units are delivered under Nationally Recognised Training in accordance with the Standards for Registered Training Organisations 2025. Awareness-level courses (asbestos awareness, silica awareness, hazmat awareness) support workplace health and safety compliance. Students who complete CPCCDE4008 will be eligible to conduct Class B licensed asbestos removal.
