Construction First Aid | First Aid Training Built for Construction Workers

CTC Workplace Training delivers Construction First Aid, a practical first aid training package designed for construction workers and delivered by trainers who understand construction sites, construction injuries and the way workers actually respond under pressure.

This is not first aid taught from a hospital, nurse or paramedic perspective. It is first aid training delivered at the learner level, using real construction injury scenarios, clear language and practical response steps your workers can apply on site.

First aid training for construction teams, delivered in construction language.
Construction First Aid helps workers respond to realistic site incidents such as crush injuries, cuts and bleeding, falls, heat stress, eye injuries, cardiac arrest, shock, burns, machinery incidents and emergency communication on active worksites.

Training is available onsite at your workplace or at CTC training centres in Sydney, Central Coast and Newcastle.

What makes Construction First Aid different?
The course is designed around construction site risk, not generic office first aid. Workers learn through realistic site-based scenarios, practical discussions and examples that match the injuries and emergencies they may see on construction, civil, demolition, infrastructure and maintenance worksites.

Designed for learner-level understanding The course avoids overcomplicated clinical language and focuses on what workers need to recognise, what they need to do first and when to escalate.
Real construction medical injury scenarios Workers apply first aid principles to realistic construction scenarios including falls, crush injuries, severe bleeding, eye injuries, burns, heat-related illness, cardiac arrest and shock.
Group booking model Employers can book complete crews, teams or departments together, helping keep training consistent across the workforce.
CPR-only or full First Aid package Choose HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation only, or the combined HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation, HLTAID010 Provide basic emergency life support and HLTAID011 Provide First Aid package for broader site emergency response capability.
Built for compliance and confidence Workers gain nationally recognised first aid training while learning through construction-relevant examples that improve workplace confidence.

Construction injury scenarios used in training

Designed around construction site risk: workers learn through scenarios they will recognise from their own work environment, not generic clinical examples.

Bleeding and cuts

Responding to severe bleeding from tools, sharp materials, reo, sheet metal, glass, grinders and site equipment.

Falls and impact injuries

Managing first response for falls from ladders, platforms, vehicles, scaffolds, steps and uneven surfaces while waiting for emergency services.

Crush and machinery incidents

Recognising danger, protecting the scene, communicating clearly and supporting an injured worker after a crush, pinch point or plant-related incident.

Heat stress and fatigue

Identifying heat-related illness, dehydration, exhaustion and early warning signs common on outdoor and high-temperature worksites.

Eye injuries and burns

Practical response steps for dust, chemical exposure, sparks, hot works, welding, concrete, solvents and workplace burns.

Cardiac arrest and CPR

Recognising collapse, starting CPR, using an AED and coordinating emergency response in a construction site environment.

Needlestick injuries

Managing a needlestick incident on site, including immediate wound response, what not to do, reporting requirements and the steps to take while waiting for medical assistance.

Snakebite and spider bite

Applying pressure immobilisation bandaging for snakebite, keeping the casualty still and managing envenomation. Recognising funnel-web and redback spider bites, applying the correct first aid response for each type, and managing the casualty until emergency services arrive.

Built for the way construction workers learn.
Construction First Aid focuses on practical decision-making, simple response steps, site communication and realistic injury examples. The objective is not to turn workers into medical professionals. The objective is to help workers respond quickly, safely and confidently until further help arrives.
