Butt Welding Training

Poly Welding Training (Butt, Electrofusion & Extrusion) — Public NSW + Onsite NSW-Wide

CTC Workplace Training delivers nationally recognised polymer welding training for crews working on polyethylene pipeline systems. Training includes practical joining methods used across water infrastructure in Sydney and specialist applications in mining and water operations around Newcastle.

Public delivery is available at our NSW branches (Sydney, Central Coast and Newcastle). We also deliver onsite group training across NSW for confirmed group bookings.

Options include Initial (first time) and Refresher (returning learner). Combined Butt + Electrofusion is delivered as a one-day practical session supported by pre-learning. Nationally recognised training is GST-free.

How to choose: Select a single unit if your job role requires one joining method only (for example, electrofusion only). Choose Butt + Electrofusion if you want both joining methods in one program. Choose Extrusion as a separate specialist day when your work includes repairs, fabrication or extrusion-based welding tasks.
Refresher bookings: delivered for returning learners renewing competency (evidence requirements are MISSING).
Equipment: CTC Workplace Training supplies all equipment required for practical activities, including: MISSING.

FAQs

Who is this training course for?

This training is for workers who join or repair polyethylene pipeline systems and need practical competency for site tasks. It suits water infrastructure crews in Sydney and surrounding regions, and it can suit mining and water operations around Newcastle where polyethylene systems are used.

What’s the difference between the Butt Welding & Electrofusion & Extrusion?

The difference is the joining method and what your role requires. Butt welding and electrofusion are common joining methods for polyethylene pipelines, while extrusion techniques are typically used for specialist plastic welding tasks such as repairs and fabrication-type work.

Do you supply equipment?

Yes, we supply equipment for practical activities.

Can you run onsite group bookings across NSW?

Yes, onsite group bookings are available NSW-wide for confirmed group bookings.

Do you recognise prior completion for refreshers?

Yes, refresher options are available for returning learners who have previously completed the unit(s). In accordance with the Plastics Industry Pipe Association of Australia (PIPA), it is recommended that refresher training be undertaken every 2 years to maintain competency.

How long does it take?

Most options are delivered in a one-day practical format. Combined Butt + Electrofusion options can include pre-learning before the practical day to support efficient delivery and assessment.

What do I bring?

Bring standard PPE suitable for practical workshop activities.

Is it GST-free?

Yes, nationally recognised training is GST-free. The options on this page are nationally recognised units of competency, so the published prices are GST-free.

Can I do only electrofusion if that’s all my employer requires?

Yes, you can book electrofusion as a standalone unit if that’s what your role requires. Some worksites specify a single joining method depending on scope, fittings and network requirements.

Do you bundle extrusion with butt and electrofusion?

No, extrusion is delivered as a separate specialist day. This helps you book extrusion only when your role requires extrusion techniques, without extending the combined butt and electrofusion day.
