ASP / ESI Annual Training Refresher

Course Overview

This mandatory annual refresher course delivers statutory safety training for existing workers in the Electricity Supply Industry (ESI) who hold ASP Level 1 or Level 2 authorisation with Ausgrid, Endeavour Energy, or Essential Energy. It reinforces critical knowledge and skills to maintain safe work practices on or near electrical apparatus.

Delivered by CTC Workplace Training (RTO 7053), using experienced trainers and assessors approved by Ausgrid, Endeavour, and Essential Energy. Training complies fully with the Standards for Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) 2015 and network-specific requirements.

Units of Competency

Successful completion awards a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment for selected units, including:

• HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation
• UETDREL006 Work safely in the vicinity of live electrical apparatus as a non-electrical worker
• UETDRMP018 Perform rescue from a live low voltage panel
• UETDRMP010 Provide first aid in an ESI environment
• UETDRMP017 Perform pole top rescue
• UETDRMP015 Perform elevated work platform controlled descent escape
• UETDRMP016 Perform elevated work platform rescue
• UETDRMP011 Testing of connections to low voltage electricity networks
• UETDRMP001 Apply access authority procedures to work on or near electrical apparatus
• UETDRMP002 ESI safety rules for work on, near or in the vicinity of electrical apparatus
• Ausgrid Electrical Safety Rules - ASP2 ONLY (aligned to Ausgrid requirements; please note this component is non-accredited but meets distributor authorisation prerequisites)
• Endeavour Energy Electrical Safety Rules (aligned to Endeavour Energy requirements; please note this component is non-accredited but meets distributor authorisation prerequisites)
• Essential Energy Electrical Safety Rules (aligned to Essential Energy requirements; please note this component is non-accredited but meets distributor authorisation prerequisites)

Delivery and Assessment

Face-to-face training with practical exercises conducted in simulated workplace scenarios relevant to working near live electrical apparatus.

Assessment may include written questionnaires, practical demonstrations, oral questioning, participation in group activities, and teamwork-based exercises.

Course Duration

1 day. Courses commence at 7:30am and typically finish by 3:30pm.

Lunch is provided for full-day courses at CTC Training Centres (please notify us of special dietary requirements).

Entry Requirements

• Minimum age of 18 years (participants under 18 require parent/guardian consent)
• Sufficient language, literacy, and numeracy (LLN) skills to read and interpret policies, procedures, safety data sheets, permits, and templates
• Physical capability to safely undertake strenuous practical activities

Dress Code

Participants must wear hi-vis work clothing and steel-capped boots. Hard hat, gloves, safety glasses and any other required PPE can be borrowed from CTC Workplace Training.

Class Size

Maximum of 20 participants per session for optimal hands-on learning.

Course Location

Public courses delivered at CTC Training Centre Central Coast @ Tuggerah.

Public courses also available at CTC Training Centres Sydney @ Emu Plains, and Newcastle @ Beresfield. CTC Training Centre Wollongong @ Port Kembla is available for group bookings only.

Vocational Outcomes

Successful participants receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment under Nationally Recognised Training (NRT) for the accredited units completed. Distributor-specific Electrical Safety Rules components (Ausgrid, Endeavour, Essential) are non-accredited but support ongoing ASP authorisation (subject to employer sponsorship and distributor approval).
