This initial course provides mandatory safety training for new non-electrical crane/plant operators, spotters, and observers wanting to work near overhead power lines and low voltage power in NSW. It equips participants with critical knowledge and skills for safe approach distances and emergency CPR response.
Delivered by CTC Workplace Training (RTO 7053), using experienced trainers in accordance with the Standards for Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) 2015 and industry requirements.
Successful completion awards a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment for selected units, including:
Face-to-face training with practical exercises conducted in simulated workplace scenarios relevant to working near overhead power lines.
Assessment may include written questionnaires, practical demonstrations, oral questioning, participation in group activities, and teamwork-based exercises.
Half a day to 1 day depending on units required. Courses commence at 7:15am and typically finish by 3:30pm.
Lunch is provided for full-day courses at CTC Training Centres (please notify us of special dietary requirements).

Participants must wear hi-vis work clothing and steel-capped boots. Hard hat, gloves, and safety glasses can be borrowed from CTC Workplace Training if required.
Maximum of 20 participants per session for optimal hands-on learning.

Successful participants receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment under Nationally Recognised Training (NRT) for the accredited units completed. The Essential Energy Electrical Safety Rules component (where included) is non-accredited distributor-specific training but directly supports safe work near powerlines as crane/plant operators, spotters, or observers (subject to employer and regulatory requirements).
